What I would say is if you’ve already got your heart set on a takedown, the Chiappa Alaskan has a lot going for it, especially if you gravitate toward the lever actions with more modern features. They’re not comfortable to use unless you have on heavy gloves and they make the action a little more difficult to run quickly without short stroking. The rubber buttpad looks like it could be sanded down to fit. They are still readily available for less than half what Chiappa is asking for this, and are built like tanks.
